West Brook FCCLA- World Kindness Day
World Kindness Day is celebrated annually on the 13th of November. On this day, participants attempt to make the world a better place by celebrating and promoting good deeds and pledging acts of kindness. This year, West Brook FCCLA decided to host a campus wide project. The members’ main goal was to create a kinder world by inspiring students, teachers, and other staff members to work towards greater kindness.
They placed “Take What You Need” posters around the school in several spots where anyone passing by could pick up an encouraging sticky note with kind words, and phrases. They also had student council help with passing out “Pass It On” clothes pins. The clothes pins had positive affirmations on them, and once you received one you were to pass it on to another person, making it FCCLA’s goal to clothes pin all of the West Brook community.
The members, even in the cold weather took the time to create and draw on the sidewalks outside of the school. They displayed quotes around The Brook, and even had their own Snapchat filter that promoted not only kindness, but their FCCLA organization. Their efforts were greeted with warm smiles and laughter.
In all the ways they knew how, they worked hard to spread kindness. West Brook FCCLA works hard to do that every day, but World Kindness day is a day where you can be a little bit louder about your kindness. Don't forget that something as small as a smile or saying hello to a friend can make a big impact in someone’s life. Together FCCLA can bring a little light to a dark world.
