Devine FCCLA- Giving Back with a Pack

Devine FCCLA members, Caitlyn Breiten and JoJo Villanueva, held a drive for toiletries to distribute to homeless citizens in the Devine - San Antonio area.  The girls asked high school and middle school students to donate items such as soap, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste along with other necessities like socks and gloves, granola bars and bottles of water.  They presented to the PHS classes at the high school and together with those students completed a lesson on philanthropy that included packing the bags for distribution.  Caitlyn and JoJo also created inspirational cards to attach to the bags. After the drive was over, the girls collected over 500 items for their bags. They presented to a local church and the Lions Club to inform them of their project and, as a result, received donations that totaled $300 so that they can buy more items for their bags.  Caitlyn and JoJo will distribute the bags over the Christmas break in hopes of spreading some cheer and love to the communityies sometimes overlooked members.
