Sharyland High School- Helping the Hungry
On Tuesday, February 5th Sharyland FCCLA members from the Family and Community Services class spent the morning helping at the Rio Grande Valley Food Bank. The 13 members who attended worked in the food banks garden. Members got to experience feeding chickens and collecting their eggs as well as cleaning the chicken coops. Other members worked in the gardens by pulling old plants, weeding, rowing the potatoes, watering, harvesting vegetables, and preparing them for sale. These crops are sold at the local farmers markets. The money raised is used for purchasing foods needed at the food bank. Members who participated felt satisfied that they were able to help those in need through this project.
