 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

C.J. DAVIDSON SCHOLARSHIP FOR

TEXAS ASSOCIATION, FAMILY, CAREER AND COMMUNITY LEADERS OF AMERICA

The Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is awarding ten scholarship to outstanding members in Texas.  The scholarship is for $2,000 per semester and will be continued for eight semesters if the recipient continues to be qualified under the rules regulated by the scholarship.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Applications should be completed in full and returned to the Association, which will carry out the 
application process, evaluation procedure and determination of recipients of the ten scholarships awarded.

APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible a student must:

·        Be a resident of the state of Texas

·        Be a 2007 graduate of a Texas high school

·        Have an overall high school grade average of 85

·        Have been an active member of an affiliated chapter of Family, Career and Community

        Leaders of America for at least one year

·        Have completed one or more years of family and consumer sciences in high school

·        Meet entrance requirements of Texas college or university which offers a degree in

        family and consumer sciences

·        Enroll in a Texas accredited college with a family and consumer sciences department

        in the fall of 2007

·        MAJOR IN ANY AREA OF FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES AND RECEIVE A

        FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES TEACHING CERTIFICATE.

·        Include test scores of American College Testing (ACT) and/or Scholastic Aptitude Test

        (SAT)

·        Include a theme of approximately 200 words on a topic of applicant’s choice related to

        family and consumer sciences

 

RULES REGULATING THE C.J. DAVIDSON SCHOLARSHIP

FAMILY, CAREER AND COMMUNITY LEADERS OF AMERICA SCHOLARSHIP  

 

1.       Each semester recipient must request for the chair of the Family and Consumer

Sciences Department to confirm that the recipient is majoring in family and consumer

sciences and working towards a teaching certificate.  A letter verifying this fact shall be sent

to: Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, 3530 Bee Caves Road, Suite 101,

Austin, Texas 78746.

2.      Recipient shall furnish a transcript of grades at the completion of each semester to:

3.      Upon receipt of verification of the scholarship recipient’s acceptance by a college or

university FCCLA shall disburse money to the Registrar or Financial Officer of the college or 

university.

 

4.      This money shall be used to defray cost of tuition, fees, books, and room and board.

5.      Upon receiving written notice of the applicant’s acceptance for enrollment the second

semester, the FCCLA office, shall again disburse the money to the Registrar or

Financial Officer of the college or university.  This procedure will be repeated for the length of

the scholarship award, as long as the recipient continues to meet the requirements.

6.      The recipients shall be expected to enroll and maintain a course load of 15 hours per

semester.  Any deviation from this shall make recipient ineligible, unless the scholarship

committee and the State Advisor have granted approval prior to the start of the semester in

question.

7.      The recipient shall be ineligible upon drop of grade average below C+ (2.5 on a 4.0

system), change of major from Family and Consumer Sciences or marriage.

8.      Should the recipient forfeit the scholarship, the region scholarship committee shall

name an alternate recipient who would then receive the scholarship under the regulations

herein stated.

9.      Should unusual circumstances prevent the recipient’s entrance into a college or

consecutive attendance, the scholarship may be held for the recipients upon approval of the

scholarship committee and the State Advisor.

Recipient shall remain in contact with the FCCLA office through the duration of the scholarship award.  Failure to do so will constitute a willing forfeit on behalf of the recipient of the remainder of any monies allocated to student.
