Power of One is a self directed program.  Members set their own goals, work to achieve them and see the results. The skills members learn in Power of One will help them in school, with friends and family, in their future at college and/or on the job.

STAR Events are competitive events in which members are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills and occupational preparation. STAR Events offers individual skill development through the following: Cooperative--teams work to accomplish specific goals; individualized--members work alone to accomplish specific goals; and competitive--individual or team performance measured by an established set of criteria.  Direct any state STAR Event questions to 512-306-0099 or email fccla@texasfccla.org.

 

 

State Proficiency Events

Proficiency Events are competitive events in which members are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills and occupational preparation. You can be part of STOP the Violence - Students Taking On Prevention. LifeSmarts

LifeSmarts is a flexible classroom or group activity that teaches teens to be smart and responsible consumers and citizens.  The content and competition questions focus on five key areas of consumer knowledge that teens need to know to function effectively in today's marketplace.  To learn more about LifeSmarts visit the program website at: www.lifesmarts.org

 

 

National Schools of Character Awards Program

Now in its 7th year, National Schools of Character is an annual awards program recognizing K-12 schools and districts demonstrating outstanding character education initiatives that yield positive results in student behavior, school climate and academic performance.  CEP encourages school and districts involved in character education to look at the criteria “Character Education Quality Standards” to determine whether they might qualify. Selected schools and districts receive a cash award of $2,000, national recognition, and a featured position in CEP’s National Schools of Character publication.  To read the criteria, get a copy of the application, or learn more about the awards, go to CEP's website at: www.character.org/eventsawards/nsoc/

Applications for the National Schools of Character awards program, are due December 8th.

 

 

Prudential Spirit of Community Awards

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards recognize students in middle and high school grades who have demonstrated exemplary community service. Start Something

The Start Something Youth Program is a program developed by the Tiger Woods Foundation and the Target Corporation for all children ages eight to seventeen.  The primary purpose of the program is to help young people across the United States to strive to become persons of character with a strong set of core values.  The program seeks to further inspire and guide youth to attain their dreams and goals one step at a time, and to communicate to youth that through hard work and belief, achieving those goals and dreams is possible.  To learn more about the program visit the Start Something website at: http://www.target.com/startsomething
